You do not need a permit to film on street in Edinburgh, the Lothians or the Scottish Borders provided the filming does not cause an obstruction, nuisance or offence. However, a Notice of No Objection can be arranged upon request to confirm that filming can go ahead.
Permission is required to film in parks, beaches or cemeteries. If you are filming on private property you will need the owner’s permission.
If you need to control the street, or if you are using heavy equipment, you will need to apply for the appropriate Order or Permit following a joint agency meeting organised c/o Film Edinburgh. Find out more about these circumstances in the Code of Practice.
Pay bays suspensions and single yellow line dispensations can be organised in the city centre following the procedures outlined in Parking Operations: Events and Filming in Edinburgh.
